Essaytyper
Essaytyper Look through the reference lists of the papers and books youâve just read. Mark out a few of the most promising-looking readings. However, there are also arguments in support of sending children to school rather than educating them at home. At school, on the other hand, they are able to socialise and meet people of different ages and so become increasingly independent. Children also need their peers to do subjects like sports and drama. Think of a potential response to your argument, perhaps from an author youâre arguing against. Write out that response, then tell me why it doesnât defeat your argument, or at least why it only mitigates it. This is the stuff that actually makes up your argument. Ninety nine percent of the structure of your essay is exactly the same as you learned in secondary school. You might think youâre too good for Point, Evidence, Explain. How are you going to relate your argument to the existing literature? Make sure you know their arguments reasonably well and have armed yourself with flexible quotes from their work. If you can, familiarise yourself with the people who think theyâre wrong and awful. Figure out if there are arguments which are unresolved and see if you can make a contribution towards resolving them. You donât want to get penalised because you didnât reference your readings properly after youâve put in all that effort to make sure that your arguments are founded in the literature. If the reading list is really short, youâll need to go beyond it. Ideally you want to be able to split your burdens of proof into a few different points. Start your intro with the central claim of your essay. If Iâm reading it, I want to know within literally five seconds what youâre trying to convince me of. If you perform poorly at this, you might as well pack up and go home. Next, think about what you need to prove in order to make that claim. Another important point is that schools have more resources and equipment than can be provided at home such as libraries, sports equipment and laboratories for science experiments. A final argument is that school can offer a much wider range of subjects and expertise than parents can provide on their own. Parents would need to have a whole range of professional knowledge in science subjects like physics and chemistry to English literature and economics. It is also questionable whether parents could keep a disciplined study atmosphere at home because of the friendly family atmosphere. In sum, home tuition can affect social independence and fail to provide the correct resources and professional teaching. What might be the immediate negative reaction of someone reading your central claim? How can you defend yourself against that response? Finally, make sure you formulate every claim in the strongest possible terms. Donât make your opponent look like they have no arguments, or take the weakest version of their argument. Think about the strongest possible response to the claim youâve put forward, then beat that. If youâre making a claim, you need to tell me why that claim is correct. Think about the text youâre reading and think how you might respond to it. This is the single easiest way to get more marks. If I see an argument citing an author whom nobody else has mentioned, and itâs a decent argument, it will make my day. You will save yourself literally days over the course of your university career. They allow you to reference as you write, and you can create and reformat your bibliography and citations at the touch of a button. The Issue task presents an opinion on an issue of general interest followed by specific instructions on how to respond to that issue. You are required to evaluate the issue, consider its complexities and develop an argument with reasons and examples to support your views. Once youâve written the whole essay, read over it again. Look at every premise youâve used and claim youâve made. Be aware whilst youâre reading that all arguments and authors are fallible.

Basics Of Writing An Effective Essay
Basics Of Writing An Effective Essay Likewise, the third and fourth body paragraphs, like the first and second, will contain your third and fourth strongest arguments supporting your thesis statement. Each paragraph will address one main idea that supports the thesis statement. The first paragraph of the body should put forth your strongest argument to support your thesis. Start the paragraph out by stating the supporting idea. Then follow up with additional sentences that contain supporting information, facts, evidence or examples â" as shown in your diagram or outline. The concluding sentence or last sentence of the paragraph should summarize your main idea by reinforcing your topic sentence. Unity in a paragraph begins with the topic sentence. Every paragraph has one single, controlling idea that is expressed in its topic sentence, which is typically the first sentence of the paragraph. A paragraph is unified around this main idea, with the supporting sentences providing detail and discussion. In order to write a good topic sentence, think about your theme and all the points you want to make. If all sentences clearly and sufficiently support the main idea, then your paragraph is complete. If there are not enough sentences or enough information to prove your thesis, then the paragraph is incomplete. Usually three supporting sentences, in addition to a topic sentence and concluding sentence, are needed for a paragraph to be complete. Decide which point drives the rest, and then write it as your topic sentence. The unifying idea in this paragraph is that the writer likes Sunday because it gives him/her a chance to be with his/her dad. If you'll internalize the format presented above, you'll develop the ability to write clear and compelling essays. The second body paragraph will follow the same format as the first body paragraph. This paragraph should put forth your second strongest argument supporting your thesis statement. The weakest arguments should be discussed and presented in the closing paragraphs of the essay body. Writing An Essay? Here Are 10 Effective Tips Cope with your assignment on time with the help of our essay service. That is, you have something you want to communicate or argue for and here is your chance to explain it in detail, support it, and defend it. The introductory paragraph should briefly orient the reader to the topic and provide a conceptual map of the rest of the paper. Although writing an essay is daunting for many people, it can be pretty straight-forward. It should be an appropriate guide for writing at the middle school, high school, and lower college levels. They are boring and have nothing to do with your unique personality. Try to make the topic about your own expression and feelings. With that being said, keep in mind the rigid structure of an academic essay and do not forget to follow the guidelines. Do you want to know how good our writers are at overcoming essay challenges? Here's a satisfaction rate graph that will answer your questions. The topic is so dull I decided not to get into too many details and ask a professional writer for help. It is packed with information and yet has a creative touch. I did not expect anything this good from an average writing service. The prices are affordable and the quality of writing is inspiring. I'm so glad I managed to turn in my essay by the deadline! You want to be sure of the thinks you are going to be writing about in your essay. As you get more experienced with essay writing, you will want to adapt this model to suit the structure and shape of your ideas. Ask your teacher, your parents, and those in your study group. Feedback is a great way to get a second opinion on your work and argument. The typical assignment I have in mind will be an argumentative essay, in which you argue for something, even if just an interpretation of someone an authorâs work. If you often get comments on your sentences, try working on one paragraph at a time, and putting each sentence on a new line. This will make it much easier to spot common errors, for instance, sentences which depend on another sentence for their meaning, or are missing parts. Once you've checked it, you can join all the sentences back up in the paragraph again and move on to the next. Thank you for making that extra effort and assisting me with this debatable topic. I was at a loss and the time was running very fast. I will probably turn for your help again any time soon. I keep staring at a blank page and can't write a thing. Professionalism and Englishness in The Remains of the Day - Literature Essay Samples
In The Remains of the Day, Kazuo Ishiguro exemplifies English identity from the perspective of the butler of a prominent estate, Mr. Stevens of Darlington Hall. Ishiguro uses Mr. Stevensââ¬â¢s account to establish English identity, allowing Mr. Stevensââ¬â¢s conservative perspective to be a commentary on that identity as it relates to professionalism and integrity. Ishiguroââ¬â¢s rendering of English identity privileges service (though not necessarily professionalism) over all, and other facets of humanity like pride and integrity are expected to yield to service; however, Stevensââ¬â¢s conservative nature slightly exaggerates these aspects of English identity as the society around him gradually begins to liberalize its Englishness, relaxing its privileging of professionalism. Mr. Stevens is both the protagonist and the narrator of the text, and as the narrator, he communicates to the reader in such a way that evinces Ishiguroââ¬â¢s authorial intent to establish his account as unreliable. Stevensââ¬â¢s unreliability only applies, however, to certain contexts, and in many other contexts, the reader is led to trust his explanations. Broadly, one of the reasons Ishiguro does this is to make it easy for the reader to ultimately view English identity as slightly different from what Stevens exemplifies. Specifically, the reader easily sees Stevens as an old-fashioned representation of Englishness. One way Mr. Stevensââ¬â¢s old-fashioned nature is made apparent to the reader is by way of Stevensââ¬â¢s many stories about his father who was also a butler; Stevens lives to be like his father for whom the profession was life, nearly in its entirety, and Stevensââ¬â¢s strict adherence to his fatherââ¬â¢s model and, perhaps, even greater conservatism strongly suggests that Stevens is, indeed, old-fashionedââ¬âfashioned after a previous generation. The arguably most reliable commentary on Stevensââ¬â¢s conservatism, though, typically comes from Miss Kenton who worked closely with Stevens at Darlington Hall for many years prior to the start of the novel. Mr. Stevens and Miss Kenton reminisce together about an incident in which Lord Darlington fired two Jewish maids for no other reason than that they were Jewish, which greatly upset Miss Kenton at the time. Stevens was also disturbed by this, claiming in his account to be as disturbed as Miss Kenton, but he deemed it requisite of a butler not to question Lord Darlingtonââ¬â¢s decision, even in a private conversation with Miss Kenton; consequently, she assumed Stevens agreed with the decision until a year later when they discuss it all and Stevens informs Miss Kenton that Lord Darlington regretted firing the maids and asked Stevens to find them again. Miss Kentonââ¬â¢s reaction is not to Lord Darlingtonââ¬â¢s regret but to Stevens having withheld his true feelings about what transpired. She says, ââ¬Å"Why, Mr. Stevens, why, why, why do you always have to pretend?â⬠(Ishiguro 154). Her response confirms somewhat late in the novel that Stevensââ¬â¢s old-fashioned view of his profession is not representative of Englishness for everyone, even if it was once so. For Mr. Stevens, English identity allows itself to be defined and stationed by oneââ¬â¢s profession. Pride is irrelevant with regard to where one belongs, and those who would challenge their stations out of pride are deviant. Stevens does not vocally empathize with Miss Kentonââ¬â¢s reaction to Lord Darlingtonââ¬â¢s firing of the Jewish maids solely because he believes his station both does and should restrict him from doing so; he considers his own opinion undeserving of representation outside of his personal privacy. Even at the risk of Miss Kenton believing that he lacks integrity, Mr. Stevens maintains this notion. Mr. Stevensââ¬â¢s Englishness is so contingent upon his professionalism, in fact, that he speaks of his professional development the way one would personal development as from adolescence to adulthood, which makes professionalism more encompassing of human identity. When discussing Lord Darlingtonââ¬â¢s convivial gathering of prominent figures who sympathized with Germany to discuss ways to loosen the Treaty of Versailles, Stevens says, ââ¬Å"Let me make clear that when I say the conference of 1923, and that night in particular, constituted a turning point in my professional development, I am speaking very much in terms of my own more humble standards. [â⬠¦] For all its sad associations, whenever I recall that evening today, I find I do so with a large sense of triumphâ⬠(Ishiguro 110). Stevensââ¬â¢s words establish professionalism as the cornerstone of his identity as an Englishman because Ishiguro uses his fatherââ¬â¢s mortal illness to show what shapes Steven s the most. Ishiguro expects that, for most people (including the implied reader), the death of a close parent or guardian would have the most profound effect on oneââ¬â¢s personal development, but for Stevens, the most profound effect comes from his performance on the job under such unprecedented pressure; his fatherââ¬â¢s death is, in fact, reduced somewhat to being merely the ultimate challenge in performing his duties as a butler. Since Ishiguro uses Mr. Stevens to depict English identity, Englishness forms in the text from its conservative fringe first and then expands to position that starting point relative to other, differing representations of Englishness. Because Stevens is a subaltern character (unlike Mr. Farraday or Lord Darlington), Ishiguro is able to create a rather reliable, thick description of the mid-twentieth century in England. He captures the discourse of the day (that which ââ¬Å"remainsâ⬠after observing Stevensââ¬â¢s angle) as growing less conservative and, perhaps, reducing professionalismââ¬â¢s ability to define an Englishman or Englishwoman in favor of, at the very least, integrity and a modicum of pride in that integrity.

Taking a Look at Realism - 2663 Words
Realism Throughout history man has used his writings to record events, tell stories, inspire others, and share his opinions on certain subjects. Many intellectual movements in history have been carried along by the writings of influential authors and leaders. The literary works are then read by the common man and his opinions may or may not be influenced. Changes in his actions based on his readings will, in turn, affect how others act. The advancement of ideas and concepts eventually lead to a change in the thinking of an entire population and sometimes the world. This is true of the Realism Movement which started in the eighteenth century and has continued to the modern day. The Realism Movement would not have been nearly as far reaching if not for its counterpart: the Romantic Era. Without having first experienced the passionate, spiritual, and fairytale like qualities of the Romantic Era, the world would not have been able to appreciate the realism movement as well (Wurst). Becau se of the offsetting traits of these two ideologies people many times discuss realism and romanticism as opposites that go hand in hand. This leads to the labeling of music, actions, plays, and characters in literature as being of either realistic or romantic origins. The Realism Movementââ¬â¢s progression and rising popularity can be seen through both literature and American music. The following section will describe and evaluate the new public contest The X Factor USA, to determine the effectiveness of the show as a method of talent- discovery. I will act as an AR representative of the premier record label, Island/Deft Jam, analyzing the feasibility of the show as a viable way of doing music AR for a company that has a specific volts and criteria for selecting artist. The X Factor USA is a music competition show produced by Scott, a joint venture between Sony Music and ex-American Idol judge Simon Jewell Although the new how shares many similarities with the original music competition program American Idol, The X Factor significantly differs in that during the initial audition phase of the competition, contestants must perform in front of not only the four Judges but also a large audience. The added pressure from having to sing in front of a sizable crowd serves as an extra measure to assess an individuals quality as a potential star. After the audition segment, the winners are divided into four teams boys, girls, groups, over ass, competing among themselves for the top four live show spots. In the round of 16, the Judges eliminate one the top four contestants on each team. The public-vote phase starts In the round of 12; the bottom two contenders with the least votes perform once more to prove that they deserve to stay on the competition before the judges determine which of the two least popular contestants will advance. The importance of public-vote further grows in the round of 9 and onwards, in which the contestant with the least votes is automatically dropped from the competition, while the second and third from the bottom must battle for survival. This process of limitation continues until the show produces a final winner who is guaranteed a $5 million record deal with one of Sony Musics affiliates 0.For a company of high stature as Island/Deft Jam, home of pop superstars such as Jennifer Lopez, Justine Bibber and Maria Carrey, the ultimate objective of talent discovery Is to find an artist with quality and ability to achieve broad commercial success. 0 Hence an AR representative of the label must pay close attention to the singers vocal quality, range and tone, the delivery of the song, as well as stage presence and the reaction of the crowd. The discovery process through the X Factor has several advantages. First, the search method for new artist is much easier since the contestants voluntarily apply for the audition. The A;R representative simply watches the show and retrieve basic information, such as name and hometown, of the performer. Second, the high pressure and competitive environment of the show accelerates the growth of a performer who must develop ones craft in a short period of time to survive the competition.Third, considering that the advancement of a contestant depends on the opinion of 10. 93 million viewers, the attest number of viewers of the show according to Nielsen TV Rating, investment In a singer who moves far Into the competition Is a less-risky venture, because the result directly reflects the singers appeal to the public. () Lastly, contestants build a solid number of followers and fan base through the competition, reducing the marketing cost associated with searching for potential customers. The X factor is a viable way performs with the same resources available to major pop stars; they perform in a full concert setting with backup dancers, backup singers, and high quali ty visuals, with instruction by industry professionals to prepare for the show. The grand production scale allows the AR representative to fairly compare and contrast a contestant against current popular artists to decide whether or not an artist has the capacity, charisma, and talent to become a superstar. Part II The following segment will discuss the viability of the digital-medium, Concluded, as avenue to seek new artists. I will represent a booking and management agency, AM Only, discovering new artists on Concluded. Concluded is an audio platform that allows users to upload, record, and share heir original creation across the Internet. The website is integrated with various social networking sites such as Backbone, Tumbler, and Twitter, allowing artists to easily distribute and promote their material across the digital world. Moreover, the platform has direct links to digital distribution sites such as tunes, Beetroot, and Lund, where listeners can purchase the songs. In addition to the clear advantage in distribution, the availability of statistics on the activities related to uploaded tracks provides an incredible value to the artist; it reports the geographic area in which the rack has been played, helping artists locate their fans and make strategic decisions on touring. Estab lished as well as lesser-known artist use the website to reach out to new audiences and test fans reaction to novel materials. With a simple format and an intuitive user interface, the company has been experiencing a meteoric rise in popularity, reporting 8 million creators on Concluded 0. AM Only is a booking and management firm for prominent electronic music producers and ads, such as Ties, David Guests and Shriller, connecting the best of electronic music to audiences and fans 0. As a representative off premiere booking agency in the dance music industry with a reputation to maintain, one must Judge an artist based on composition ability, intricacy of beat sequences, production techniques as well as uniqueness as an artist. Moreover, it is absolutely essential that the artist can perform his or her material live. To effectively maneuver within the digital medium where thousands of new content are continuously uploaded and shared, I devised a strategy to differentiate the great from the pool of noise. Instead of randomly surfing through the website in reach for talent, I would first go to the profile of an established electronic dance musicians that actively used Concluded and examine the list of users that they followed.By following artists that a well-known taskmaster approved, I was able to narrow the field of search to individuals who are serious about their craft and music. Among those artists, I concentrated on users that had fewer followers because they tend to be newer artists without representation. I also only looked through artists Ninth more than 15 uploads, to have enough reference to accurately Judge the quality f production. Moreover, because established musicians usually followed artists that had a similar production style, I was able to limit my search to electronic dance genre. Most musicians on Concluded had their contact information on the profile, but if not, I used the message function within Concluded to directly contact the artist of interest. Through this method of A;R, I was quick to identify search method significantly increased the quality of music and provided enough content to Judge the talent of a certain musician.

Macbeth Downfall Essays - Characters In Macbeth,
Macbeth Downfall In Macbeth there were a few factors that contributed to the degeneration of the Macbeth character. There were three factors that destroyed Macbeth. The main force that was predominately responsible for the downfall of Macbeth was his single flaw. Which was his own ambition. Even though his ambition brought him to his height of power, it was also what led him to his downfall. During the play Macbeth's ambition brought him to achieve his goals but as the play evolves, it forced him to face his fate. Macbeth had become so obsessed with becoming King, and remaining powerful, that he became a completely different man. His ambition led him to become greedy, violent, power hunger, and a murder. An example of his new character occurred when he killed King Duncan. After the first murder, killing seemed to be the only solution to keep his reign over the people of Scotland. It was because of these killings and his overbearing ambition that caused him to be overthrown and kill himself. Another force was the prophecies which were told by the witches. If it had not been for the witches telling Macbeth that he was going to be Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glanis, and King of Scotland, he would still be is ordinary self. After the witches shared these prophecies with Macbeth he started thinking of ways he could become king. The other influential factor that destroyed Macbeth was his wife Lady Macbeth. In the play Lady Macbeth was going to kill King Duncan, but she just could not do it. Although she then provided a scheme which caused Macbeth to kill King Duncan. After the first murder, Macbeth seemed to come to the solution that killing was the way. Therefore Lady Macbeth was the one who introduced the concept of murder to Macbeth, which was another reason why Macbeth was destroyed.

Bases Of Power Essay
Bases Of Power Essay Bases Of Power Essay By: Raven, Bertram H. Analyses of Social Issues & Public Policy. Dec2008, Vol. 8 Issue 1, p1-22. 22p. DOI: 10.1111/j.1530-2415.2008.00159.x. Database: Academic Search Complete Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy, Vol. 8, No. 1, 2008, pp. 122 The Bases of Power and the Power/Interaction Model of Interpersonal Influence Bertram H. RavenâËâ" University of California, Los Angeles This article provides a summary of work done by Raven and his colleagues on bases of power. It ranges from the initial work in 1959 of French and Raven through decades of follow-up work, and ties the work to that of others doing work on power bases. After the summary, the author responds to a series of questions that probe the work in greater depth, allowing explication of much of the thinking underlying and leading to publications of Raven and colleagues that are well known to social psychologists. While ours has been described as one of the most widely cited analyses of social power, many Analysis of Social Issues and Public Policy readers may not be familiar with its development since our original statement was published in 1959. It therefore seems useful to summarize our original statement, plus the later developments, which include the Power/Interaction Model of Interpersonal Influence. In our initial papers (French Raven, 1965), we first defined social influence as a change in the belief, attitude, or behavior of a person (the target of influence), which results from the action of another person (an influencing agent). Social power was defined as the potential for such influence, the ability of the agent or power figure to bring about such change, using resources available to him or her. These resources are represented in six bases of power: Informational, Reward, Coercion, Legitimate, Expertise, and Referent. âËâ"Correspondence concerning this article should be addressed to Professor Bertram H. Raven, Department of Psychology, University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA 90095-1563. (e-mail: raven@ucla.edu) Editorââ¬â¢s Note: This article continues a series of occasional invited papers from distinguished scholars. Bert Raven was invited to reflect on his work on power and impacts that he has seen. After his paper, Jamie Peterson, the editorial assistant for ASAP, and I asked him a series of questions about his work; the questions and responses are appended to the paper. We hope that readers enjoy his paper and responses as we did. 1 DOI: 10.1111/j.1530-2415.2008.00159.x 2008 The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues The bases of power differ in the manner that the social change is implemented, the permanence of such change, and the ways in which each basis of power is established and maintained. Let us as an illustration examine the resources of different power bases in terms of a supervisor/subordinate relationship. Power That Leads to Socially Independent Change One basis of power, which the supervisor might use, then, is Informational Power. The supervisor carefully explains to the subordinate how the job should be donedifferently, withpersuasivereasonswhythatwouldbeabetterandmoreeffective procedure. The subordinate understands and accepts the reasons and changes behavior. Informational influence then results in cognitive change and acceptance by the target. It is thus called ââ¬Å"socially independent changeâ⬠in that altered behavior, though initiated by the influencing agent (supervisor) now continues without the target necessarily referring to, or even remembering, the supervisor as being the agent of change. Power That Results in Socially Dependent Change, with Surveillance Necessary Reward Power stems from the ability of the agent to offer a positive incentive, if the target complies (a raise in pay, a promotion, special work privileges...). In Coercive Power, the agent brings about change by threatening the target with negative, undesirable consequences (demotion, termination, undesirable work

Minorities in the United States Essay Example for Free
Minorities in the United States Essay Assimilation is defined as a process by which an individual or a group acquires the attitudes and sentiments of other individuals or groups and then incorporates their history and experience to achieve a similar cultural life (Park Burgess, 1921). Early American ancestors who were against assimilation in the country foresaw that immigrants to the country would throw away their cultural identities and the next generations would not retain those cultural identities. It was debated that assimilation could result to a similar nature of national identity in which immigrants could achieve both social and economic benefits by integrating themselves into the mainstream of the American culture (Barvosa-Carter). Immigrants are required to take an identity of an Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, white and monolingual English language speaker when integrating immigrants on the assimilationist model. However, assimilation disregarded the important distinction between a national identity and an ethnic identity. Assimilationists have influenced the American political culture with a false view that the growing cultural diversity among immigrants affects their loyalty to the country (Barvosa-Carter). Furthermore, an assimilationist approach adopts the notion that successful integration of immigrants in the country must remove all ethnic identities among immigrants (Barvosa-Carter). Definition of multiculturalism Multiculturalism is also called ethnic federalism because it is the official acknowledgment of unique, fundamentally fixed ethnic individuals and the sharing of resources based on the idea of membership in an ethnic group. It disapproves the concept of the role of ethnic diversity in the emergence of a single, culturally united people. Multiculturalism also affirms the right of every ethnic American to privilege and power, to demand recognition and respect, and to act in their native language (Salins, 1997). Moreover, multiculturalism came out of a conflict between social cohesion and cultural diversity that has been existent in the American political culture since its formation (Bryson, 2005). Assimilation versus Multiculturalism Assimilation in American life has been much more accommodating, flexible, and effective in allowing the country to retain its national unity despite the influx of different types of cultures and nationalities, while multiculturalism is more often an ideology of ethnic grievance and unavoidably results to ethnic conflict (Salins, 1997). There are two principles that are considered the foundation of multiculturalism and the opposites of assimilationism: immigrants should not throw away any of the cultural qualities they inherited from their ancestors and there will or can never be a single united nationalistic identity that all Americans can interrelate with (Salins, 1997). According to Chavez, multiculturalism supersedes affirmative action with a power to influence how all racial and ethnic groups in the country perceive themselves and conceptualize the country. Proponents of multiculturalism have not lost their belief in the capability of assimilation. The drive to traditionally assimilate ethnic minorities has been overwhelming in the United States, notably among the children of immigrants. Religion looks to be a more effective hindrance to complete assimilation than the temporal elements of culture (Chavez, 2009). Strengths and Limitations of Assimilation and Multiculturalism One of the disadvantages of multiculturalism is the failure to hear the voices of other people who live and share in the same country. However, multiculturalism has proved to be powerful and exclusionary because its primary framework and tools are borrowed from the history of anthropology (Michaelsen, 1999). According to Chavez (2009), the driving force for multiculturalism will not come from immigrants, but from their assimilated counterparts who are more affluent and established. However, multiculturalism will not promote progress, but will put the nation a step backward. The more culturally diverse Americans become, the more important that they commit themselves to a shared culture. The most notable attribute of American culture has been its capability to integrate different elements into a new unified culture (Chavez, 2009). Assimilation among Americans has always implied the notion of give and take and the American culture has been enhanced or improved by what individual ethnic groups contributed to it. (Chavez, 2009) Minority groups experiences Discrimination suffered by ethnic minorities in the United States has affected their achievements in life. The country faces two challenges in dealing with ethnic relations: the move to further eliminate the negative impact of racism that started with slavery and the successful assimilation of growing immigrants, particularly coming from South and Central America and Asia. Moreover, the immigration trend in the country has gained exceptional successes in making the nationââ¬â¢s motto a reality. However, each wave of immigration has resulted to tension between new types of immigrants and older, naturalized immigrants (Thernstrom, A S, 2002). The nature and structure of life in the United States constitutes the social environment in which interpersonal relations among people of different religions, races and national origins occur. The estimated 190 million Americans are not just individual persons with psychological attributes, but belong to different types of groups: primary, secondary, family, associations, social networks, religious, racial, and social classes. The nature of these different types of groups and their interpersonal relationships has a fundamental impact on how people of different cultural backgrounds perceive and relate to each other (Gordon, 1964). The different cultural varieties of Americans have the tendency to be with their own social class and ethnic group for the main purpose of having the warm relationships with their primary groups, interacting with other cultural varieties of Americans mainly in neutral relationships with secondary groups (Gordon, 1964). In conclusion, the United States can cope with the influx of immigrants and increasing diversity by making sure that all Americans learn how to relate with different types of groups that exist in the country. They must learn to continually eliminate structural separation of different types of ethnic groups by enhancing their interaction on the job, on the civic environment, and in other areas of impersonal relations. The process of having a modern and industrial society is dependent on the commitment of mobility and interchangeability of individuals based on their occupational expertise and needs. The universal criteria of training and competence, which rely on the achievement of occupational roles, the choice of political leaders, the selection of living space, and the effective implementation of the educational process must exist in the country, while the criteria based on religion, racial background, and nationality must eliminate. If the structural separation of ethnic groups, brought by prejudices and the desire to maintain their own subculture and ethnic identity, the American society will experience, conflict, mediocrity and confusion (Gordon 1964). Chavez recommends that that all of ethnic minorities in the United States should think of themselves as Americans, no matter where they all come from or what reasons that brought their ancestors in the country. All Americans need to retain the idea that they are one people, not simply an integration of various and competing ethnic groups. Furthermore, the value for immigrant children to understand English than to retain their native language is also necessary to address the complexity of cultural diversity. Going beyond the line where ethnicity and race are the key elements that Americans identify themselves or establish loyalty is also needed. Retaining the values and principles that unite Americans must exist rather than their differences in ancestry (Chavez, 2009). The nation can also cope with the steady influx of immigrants by understanding the concept of culture. Cultures are sets of practices involving codes of communication, habits of interaction, expression of artistic talents, and standards of human behavior that need to be understood by Americans. Furthermore, cultures are interrelated with people because as people change their cultural practices, the entire cultures can and do change (Moya, 2002). Students and teachers can play an important role in helping the nation cope with the growing cultural diversity. They must learn to understand that certain ethnic groups are culturally deprived, while other ethnic groups are culturally rich. It is also important that students and educators must be provided with tools they need to learn the impact of daily interaction on different cultural practices. Understanding the notion of concept of culture will help explain the importance of cultural diversity. Cultures not only can familiarize Americans to the world, but can also be an important form of moral knowledge (Moya, 2002). References Barvosa-Carter, Edwina.
